COURSE ON PROCUREMENT PROCESSES AND PRACTICE FOR MARINE AIDS TO NAVIGATION

The course on Procurement for Marine Aids to Navigation  held from 19 to 23 June was the first to be run in St Germain en Laye since before the COVID 19 pandemic restricted the IALA World-Wide Academy to virtual teaching.
Students from countries including Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Japan enthusiastically participated in a series of interactive lectures, exercises, and “Ask the expert” sessions, which saw experienced AtoN Procurement professionals share their experience and wisdom. The week was also a great opportunity for the students to socialise together and a course dinner was held at a Moroccan restaurant in St Germain, in honour of the upcoming World AtoN Day celebrations to be held in Tangier on the 1st of July.
The full IALA Procurement Process and Practice interactive course covers a range of procurement topics including project justification, specifications and tendering processes. An abridged version of the course is also available for entry level students who would like to learn about key concepts such as whole life costs and managing stakeholders whilst still covering fundamentals such as contracts and specifications.
Please contact the IALA World-Wide Academy to find out more or to explore the possibility of running a course in your region.
Thanks to the IALA secretariat for their professional and efficient support for the week, essential student administration activities ensured the participants’ attendance ran smoothly.
We hope to see you on a WWA course soon!
