Getting ready for the 20th IALA Conference in Brazil

We are very excited about the upcoming 20th IALA conference to be held in Brazil between 27 May and 3 June 2023 and we would like to remind you about the extend of what you can expect at this event.

To begin with, all of the information you need can be found on the dedicated website: www.iala-brazil2023.rio.br

This year’s theme is Marine Aids to Navigation – Innovation for a sustainable future.

You can have an overview of this rich conference programme with all the speakers’ names and presentations at: https://iala-brazil2023.rio.br/programme. The quality of the abstracts received in preparation for this event led to setting a parallel session to the plenary session with extra presentations at the ‘Speakes’ corner’ https://iala-brazil2023.rio.br/speakers-corner

And do not forget two important seminars!

The Heritage Seminar, which includes a tour at the Santa Cruz lighthouse.

This seminar will take place over one and a half days and will include technical presentations on various relevant aspects related to lighthouse heritage and culture. There will be a technical visit to Santa Cruz Lighthouse, which is located on “Santa Cruz” Fortress – a historic monument that guards the entrance to Guanabara Bay.

The seminar objectives are to share information on Lighthouse heritage best practices to all IALA members, maritime authorities, marine Aids to Navigation service providers, universities, scientific bodies as well as to consultants and AtoN stakeholders.

The World-Wide Academy seminar ‘Digital future – Digital skills’ is scheduled on Sunday 28 May from 13:00 to 17:00. The aim of the seminar is to take stock of the current state of marine Aids to Navigation training and capacity building efforts and identify some of the skills needed to address the challenges ahead.
