Middle East Navigation Aids Service

It was announced on 8 February that the Middle East Navigation Aids Service (MENAS), which is part of the IFAN Group, had been commended by IALA for its delivery of the IALA Level 2 Aids to Navigation (AtoN) Technician Training course. The news comes following MENAS being awarded an Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) award in 2021.

IALA concluded that MENAS had well-developed training facilities and was ready to deliver Level 2 IALA training. IALA also said MENAS had the potential to be a centre for excellence in the region for the delivery of IALA training including Level 1 (AtoN) Manager and VTS courses.

Welcoming the news, Mahdi Al Mosawi, General Manager at MENAS, commented: ‘We are pleased our training course has been given the quality assurance stamp from IALA. We are excited to see what the future holds for our training services following the positive feedback.’

Kevin Gregory, Education & Development Manager at IALA, added: ‘MENAS is well placed to expand its training offering to include both the IALA Marine Aids to Navigation Manager training course in addition to Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) training.

This could place MENAS as a centre of excellence for IALA training in the region and surrounding areas and offer a sound opportunity to income generation and new partnerships.’
