Register of GNSS Augmentation services

IALA Recommendation R1022 enables GNSS augmentation service providers to formally declare their service offerings for maritime navigation applications.

IALA National members and other appropriate authorities/organizations providing GNSS augmentation services for maritime use are required to submit a formal declaration of their service in the format of the Annex of R1022. They must update the information when any changes occur that modify the characteristics of the service or require mariners to update their equipment.

EGNOS Safety of Life assisted service for Maritime users (ESMAS)

Satellite based Augmentation System (SBAS), as the system providing wide area or regional GNSS augmentation, is recognized by IALA as an Aid to Navigation (AtoN). Thus, EGNOS as the European SBAS, provides the EGNOS SoL assisted service for Maritime Users (ESMAS) GPS augmentation service to enable maritime navigation for SOLAS operations. EGNOS SoL assisted service for Maritime Users (ESMAS) offers a service tailored to maritime users enabling marine navigation in ocean waters, harbour entrances, harbour approaches and coastal waters of the European Union Member States and EGNOS contributing countries (Iceland, Norway and Switzerland) in line with IMO Resolution A.1046.
