First Marine Aids to Navigation Manager course conducted by the Pacific Community

IALA was very pleased to support the first Marine Aids to Navigation Manager course conducted by the Pacific Community in August 2019. The course was highly successful and brought nine marine aids to navigation professionals together in Fiji where they covered a wide range of topics with expert lecturers from the Pacific Community, Fiji and IALA as well as sharing knowledge, expertise and challenges amongst themselves. The course has given the participants the knowledge and tools to assist them in effectively implementing the international requirements and standards to ensure navigational safety in their respective countries, which is critical to their economy, environment and communities.

The successful completion of this course is another huge milestone in enhancing the safety of navigation in the Pacific region and IALA looks forward to the next courses and to working with the newly qualified marine aids to navigation managers and seeing them put what they have learnt into practice.
