The World-Wide Academy can only exist thanks to the generous donation of its sponsors. The by far biggest sponsor of the Academy is IFAN, the International Foundation for Aids to Navigation. In 2011 IFAN decided to support IALA in creating the Academy which was inaugurated in 2012. Ever since then, IFAN has provided the Academy with necessary operating funds, and provides today about 70% of the annual budget of the Academy.
Had it not been for the contribution from IFAN, the IALA World-Wide Academy would not exist

The International Foundation for Aids to Navigation (IFAN) is the primary sponsor of the Academy. IFAN’s objectives are the promotion of safety at sea and the promotion of the marine environment in the Middle East and worldwide by all charitable means including directly or indirectly by providing and maintaining navigation aids, safety systems and safety information; promoting the use of modern navigation techniques and procedures and other essential maritime skills; and protecting and improving all aspects of the marine environment.
